LEESBURG,VA – The Loudoun County Democratic Committee mourns the untimely death of George Floyd. In addition to the tragic loss of life, the LCDC finds it unacceptable that the police official responsible for Mr. Floyd’s death was not charged for another four days.

In light of these events and listening to the communities in mourning, the LCDC has made it a priority to recommit ourselves to ensuring all members of our community feel welcomed, valued, and emboldened. We stand with the black community, as well as all other minority communities, and we are here to listen. The LCDC is a community partner and wholeheartedly dedicated to dismantling systemic racism and injustice at the county, state, and federal level.

The LCDC’s mission statement states, “We are stronger when… Race stops playing a significant role in determining who gets ahead in America and who gets left behind. We must face that reality and we must fix it.”

In that spirit, the LCDC looks forward to working with local leaders to ensure all members of our community have an equal opportunity to shape the vision and dialogue within our communities. LCDC recognizes this requires working with historically marginalized communities and bring their concerns and visions to the forefront.

We send our condolences to the families of George Floyd, Ahmud Aubrey, Breonna Taylor, and the countless other families and communities who have lost a loved one due to the systemic injustices embedded within our Country’s institutions.
