Loudoun Democrats Celebrate Juneteenth Across the County

Newest Federal holiday provides opportunity for celebration and reflection

LEESBURG, VA – On the heels of President Joe Biden signing the Juneteenth National Independence Day Act on Thursday, Loudoun County Democrats will participate in celebrations and reflections with our Black community across the county.

With events planned in historic Leesburg, Ida Lee Park, Claude Moore Park, and more, 2021’s recognition of Juneteenth is the largest in county history. The Loudoun County Democrats encourage all members of our community to attend these vital community events.

“In many ways Juneteenth represents how freedom and justice have been delayed for the African American community. Having it now be an official Federal holiday should not be seen as a substitute to the systematic challenges that the African American community have faced but it is definitely a step in the right direction,” said LCDC Chair Lissa Savaglio.
