Protect ‘Sunday Voting’March With NAACP
Come early for VOTERCADE – decorate your car in Red, White and Blue, bring signs – then join the march.
It is crucial that we turnout tomorrow, October 23rd, in support of Sunday voting, which is in danger of being eliminated after this election cycle when Republicans, who oppose Sunday voting, attain a majority on the county Electoral Board.
Sundays are the most accessible time for millions of Americans to find time to cast their ballots – and a favorite time to vote for many in the Black community nationwide, when churches provide transportation to and from the polls following Sunday services.
Sunday voting is at risk because in 2023, a Democrat is stepping down from the Electoral Board to be replaced by an as-yet unnamed Republican as required by Virginia Code. With a Republican majority, the Electoral Board could end Sunday voting.
So, join a festive celebration of Sunday Voting at the Votercade from noon to 1 pm, at the Floors & Decor parking lot, 950 Edwards Ferry Road, Leesburg (MAP). Decorate your vehicle, make posters, bring signs, fly American flags for the drive to Cool Springs Elementary School.
There we will meet up with the NAACP and the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority at 1 pm to march to the county Voters Registration office – at 750 Miller Drive, Leesburg, VA.
