FOLLOW THE SCIENCE: PROTECT LOUDOUN CHILDREN
LEESBURG, VA - Following the signing of Governor Glenn Youngkin’s Executive Order on mask mandates, LCDC Chair Lissa Savaglio released the following statement affirming the Loudoun County Democratic Committee’s unequivocal stance protecting the safety and health of Loudoun's children:
“The Virginia Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (VC-AAP) reiterated the importance of maintaining the mask mandates in school to protect our children and significantly cut down on the spread of the Omicron variant. We hope that the Loudoun School Board follows the science, abides by Virginia State Law SB1303 – which requires School Boards to follow CDC guidelines – and maintain its current COVID mitigation measures, including requiring students and staff to wear masks indoors, until the current public health emergency passes and CDC guidance changes.”
“We are grateful to Supervisor Turner for introducing his resolution at the Board of Supervisors meeting tonight calling on the School Board to maintain its masking requirement and are hopeful that the School Board will ultimately follow both the advice of the CDC and the VC-AAP along with current law to prioritize the health and safety of our community.”
