Harris-Walz Ticket!

Message from the Chair:

This morning’s news that Vice President Kamala Harris has chosen Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate is another jolt of excitement in this fast-moving campaign.

 Walz joins the ticket with an impressive résumé that includes service in the Army National Guard, twelve years in Congress, and many years as an educator. In 1999, he even coached the high school football team to its first state championship and served as the faculty advisor for the school’s first Gay-Straight Alliance. 

 As Governor of Minnesota, Walz has made historic investments in education, including providing students free lunch at school and expanded access to mental health resources for students. He has protected personal freedoms, enshrining abortion rights into state law, banning conversion therapy and providing protections for gender-affirming health care. Governor Walz improved public health and safety by putting a red flag law in place and expanding background checks for straw gun purchases. He has expanded workers’ rights by establishing paid leave, ensuring paid sick days, and banning non-compete agreements. Governor Walz’s administration has cut taxes with every one of their budgets. He has protected the environment by signing a bipartisan bill to lead Minnesota to 100% clean electricity by 2040 all while creating good-paying jobs for Minnesotans.
