What to Know Before You Vote

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO - If you are voting in person on Election Day Tuesday November 5, take these steps to Protect Your Vote BEFORE you head to the polls:

1. Check your current voter registration status online including your correct polling place with this link.

 2. Contact the Loudoun Office of Elections at (703) 777-0380 ASAP ONLY IF you believe your eligibility status shown online is incorrect.

3. You can vote your Absentee Ballot on Election Day in person either (a) by dropping your completed Absentee Ballot in the Absentee Ballot dropbox inside your polling station by 7 p.m. on Election Day or (b) by dropping it in the U.S. mail.  Be sure you have marked your choices on your ballot and have provided all required information on the return envelope correctly before you cast your Absentee Ballot.  Here are instructions on completing the Absentee Ballot and Envelope requirements. If you requested an absentee ballot but didn’t receive it or lost it, you can still vote. Complete a form with an Election Official to vote a regular ballot at early voting locations, or a provisional ballot at your polling place on Election Day.

All mailed Absentee Ballots must be postmarked NO LATER THAN TUESDAY NOVEMBER 5 AND MUST ARRIVE AT THE ELECTION OFFICE NO LATER THAN NOON ON FRIDAY NOVEMBER 8.

3. If you wish to vote in person but received an Absentee Ballot, take ALL Absentee Ballot materials sent to you to your polling place on Election Day. This will reduce your wait time at the polling place.

4. Bring a valid form of ID to the polling place.  Here is a list of valid ID's under Virginia election law. Voters who do not have an acceptable form of ID can sign a statement affirming their identity, and they will be able to vote.

If you experience any election interference on Election Day, contact the Virginia Democratic Party's Voter Protection Hotline (844) 482-8683.

Finally, if you were incorrectly removed from the voter roll due to Governor Youngkin’s unjust voter purge, you can still take advantage of same-day registration and cast a provisional ballot.
